At 47 years old with three kids under 2 every day is a new adventure. It has been a rich and challenging one and I would love to support you wherever you might be along this rocky but rewarding road.
My adventure started in 2003 when I decided that I would travel the IVF road to bring the life and joy of children into my life.
Luckily the procedure was successful and our daughter was born in June 2005. Questioning my sanity but yearning for more such love in my life (and didn’t want to have an only child!), I decided to try the procedures again. In June 2007 our twin boys arrived.
Like you, my journey was a series of many decisions – some quite difficult. Questioning whether testing my body and my spirit at my age was wise. Should we consider donor eggs, coping with the worries of my family, feeling alone with this experience and of course the tense and stressful time I spent waiting for the ‘news’. Was I pregnant yet?
Also would I be able to stay at home? I had worked for many years and really wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. In doing so I met the challenge of letting go of making my ‘own money’ and having my own world of work.
Now, a whole new set of questions and thoughts come to mind. Will I ever get a full night’s sleep again? What will it be like to raise twins? What will my life be like? What will I miss? Do I go back to work or stay home? What will I learn about myself? What can I do for myself in the midst of these very busy days? AND WHAT WILL menopause be like with three teenagers?
I am frequently asked, do I have help? I started with minimal help other than my husband’s (who is brilliant on diaper duty). Now I have a couple of brave babysitters, a part-time summer nanny and a daughter enrolled in preschool – all of which allows me to grow my coaching business and take time for myself. I have a great self-care plan, which includes healthy food choices, exercise, and finding nurturing time for myself.
This is the expansive experience I bring to all late-life parents. As your certified professional coach, I support you in making this adventure immensely worthwhile and allowing you the same enthusiasm and spirited energy I embrace each day with saying “life is great and I am enjoying the ride!”
