Infertility – Some thoughts about making peace with yourself

I am reading Steve Pavlina’s newest book “Personal Development for Smart People – The Conscious Pursuit of Personal Growth”.  Although the section entitled money has nothing to do with infertility, Steve made a statement that made me think.  He says

“as strange as it may seem, I found that the easiest way for me to feel financially secure was to make peace with the possibility of ending up broke and penniless. Because the future contains so many unknown variables, I can’t reliably predict where I’ll end up. I don’t even know how long I’ll live. So I must accept that no matter what I do, the final outcome of my life remains uncertain. I was eventually able to make peace with this by realizing that the best I can do is to make intelligent choices here and now, choices I believe are aligned with truth, love and power. I can demand no more of myself than that.”

When you read these words with respect to facing the challenge of infertility, do these words resonate with you?  I found it was difficult to balance my feelings – staying optimistic and realistic at the same time while undergoing various IVF procedures. Steve’s words really made me think of this time and that this idea may be a good approach for many aspects of our lives.

Making peace with yourself and knowing in your heart that you are doing all that you can do to reach your family-building goals may bring you the space to breathe and relax during this stressful and emotional part of your life.  Life coaching will provide you additional support during your challenge with infertility.
